Marc Bauman (Mercury M72s)

The day of the large format recording console is over. The two main ingredients to creating great sounding material (besides a good sounding room, a versatile microphone collection, and a skilled player) lies in good A/D, D/A conversion and high-end mic preamps.
At House Studios, The Mercury M72s/1 Mk. III has been an incredible addition and asset to our mic pre arsenal, with a totally unique color and vibe of its own. It has that delicious, gooey, smooth, warm, vintage tube tone that screams "High-end" and "Superb sound quality" to our clients.
Whether you're tracking a vocal, drum overheads, kick drum, bass guitar, room mic, etc., a beautifully detailed and articulate sound will be obtained. This preamp has the ability to smooth and tame harsh, edgy transients and frequencies in a highly musical manner.
We can confidently say that our preamp collection was not complete until the addition of the Mercury.
Before adding a M72s/1 to our collection, we did months of research and experimentation with just about every high-end tube mic pre on the market. Nothing quite delivered the same creamy goodness that the Mercury did. We love engaging the pad switch, which allows us to crank the gain, producing the most color from the unit. Having a highly diverse mic pre collection to draw from, from squeaky clean (GML) to highly colored (API, Neve), the Mercury M72s/1 brings something totally unique and original to the table. We can confidently say that our preamp collection was not complete until the addition of the Mercury.
All sound quality aside, the unit feels absolutely phenomenal and the build quality is as sturdy and top notch as they come. David Marquette is a pleasure to deal with and a true innovator when it comes to recording technology. Thank you Mercury for creating a product that defines "The Wow Factor" and that keeps inspiring me and the clientele of House Studios.
